Troy had his first experience with ice skating in Plano, Texas. Troy watched his brothers' play as a young 2 year old and wanted to play himself. The Grahl family moved to San Diego and signed Troy up to learn how to play hockey. Craig Sterling shook his head at Troy's parents and said, "Oh brother! You need to put him in skating school. Listen, I will give him 2 weeks to learn to skate." Everything is history from there. Troy continued on to play hockey in the San Diego Ice Arena Mite program. Troy never looked back. Coach Randy Moy moved Troy up from Mites to play on his Squirt Team San Diego as a 6 year old. Troy has played Squirt tournament hockey for 4 years. Troy also played one summer for the San Diego Amateur Gulls Squirt team. Troy plays forward and defense. Troy also enjoys la crosse and baseball, and has even wrestled for the Poway Slammers for two seasons. He has two older brothers which he has to compete with always. They have made him the strong competitor that he is. |
