This new Gulls league will serve to promote youth hockey in the in-house programs (non-tournement/SCHA programs) at the rinks in San Diego who choose to participate in the program. This league will benefit all the rinks and players in San Diego in building a stronger pool of in-house teams, bringing more kids into youth hockey and in player development which will give players desiring to play at a higher level the opportunity to get more ice time and in-game playing experience to prepare them for tournament team tryouts should they desire to play hockey at a higher level. In the beginning this league will exclude tournament and travel players from playing against other rinks which should remove the objections previously voiced by some rinks who have said that San Diego Ice has an unfair advantage because of their strong tournment/travel team programs. The parents and players of the San Diego Ice Qubs SQA tournament team support this new league and hope that eventually it will lead to more opportunities for all players, including our children, from beginners to the Tournament kids to play in an expanded, growing and vibrant San Diego youth hockey program for all.
